CUBS 8, METS 4: Sammy Sosa hit a three-run double and scored on a wild pitch in a
six-run fifth inning, leading Chicago over visiting New York. Sosa went 2 for 4 with a
leadoff double in the seventh on "Sammy the Bear" Beanie Baby day, a promotion
celebrated by a sellout crowd of 39,265.

The new board is composed of different subject areas to post your specific
questions or comments. There is the Daily Tymes, which is where you
will find rumors, news, gossip, and innuendos. The Bright Ideas area which is
where you can send your own suggestions or ideas to Ty! Grins and Gripes is the area
where you can post about your good or bad shopping experiences....or tattle on bad
retailers. Then there is the Mixed
Bag, which, according to Ty, "no subject is off limits here!"

new things are bound to show up! Ty has not let us down! They are introducing several new
beanies, buddies, and attics to their collection! Does this mean that we can expect quite

Ty Temporarily suspends Cyberboard: 4/19/99 The brand new Ty Cyberboard has
apparently caught Mr. Warner by surprise with the unbelievable response to it! There were
approximately 10,000 people who registered with the board and posted over 15,000 messages!
Ty had to suspend posting until they redo the board to be able to accomodate the huge
volume of people who will be posting.
Ty has a new addition to their
website! Visit the new
Cyberboard to express your
opinions on Ty's policies, report bad retailers, etc. Ty Warner will supposedly
monitor this board personally from time to time, so if there is anything you've always
wanted to say to the man, here's your chance!
More reports of
counterfeit trading cards showing up on the secondary market.
It's been reported that there have been several unsuspecting people who
have bought "sealed boxes" of the Series 2 trading cards on auction sites that
appeared to be legit. (the plastic wrapping didn't seem to be torn) In some of these "sealed"
boxes were what appeared to be "autographed" cards! But unfortunately, they
turned out to be forged autographs. A word of warning and some things to watch out for so
you don't get ripped-off are:
1) Make sure the plastic wrapping around the box is good and
tight, and that the writing "Authentic Ty Product" is all going in the same
direction.
2) If you should find an autographed card, make sure that it has the small
embossed heart logo somewhere on the signature, or right next to it.
3) All autographed and numbered cards will have the numbers embossed in GOLD....not
black.
4) If you have doubt at all about the packs you are about to open, examine them
very carefully to make sure the seams are all uniform. Another tip off is the clear
plastic wrapping that is beneath the foil should be sealed tightly. If this clear inner
wrap is ripped in anyway....be suspicious! It's easier for people to
heat seal the outside foil wrap on the packs of cards than it would be to repair the inner
wrapping.
5) If at all possible, try to deal with people you know and trust! If you buy from an
auction site, try to deal with people who have good feedback ratings. That's not to say
that ALL people with low feedback ratings are "bad traders," they might just be
new. But always remember "BUYER BEWARE." If you DO get ripped-off, there is not
a lot of recourse that you can pursue to get your money back, unless you can locate the
person you bought it from, prove the product is not "authentic", and then take
them to court.....all of which can be very costly, time consuming, and not to mention
frustrating!
