KATRINA DONATIONS
HELPING
VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA
As many
of you know.. I have gathered donations of Beanie Babies and other items in the
past to donate to hospitals and churches. Many of the displaced people from
Hurricane Katrina are coming up to Atlanta and surrounding area shelters. These
people have lost everything. I wanted to help! I have quite a few Beanie Babies
that I don't need so I am planning on donating them along with other items such
as toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs/brushes, shampoo, soap, coloring books,
crayons, writing paper, pencils, and such. If you would like to help with this
donation, you can send items like listed above so I can include them in with the
items I'm donating. I know many of you have lost the desire to collect Beanies.
Instead of selling them at a yard sale for 50 cents each.. put them to good use.
You can fit a lot of items into one of those $7.70 Priority Mail boxes. If you
need my address please email me at Lisa@planetbeans.com.
If I receive donations, I will post a thank you on the news page and in the
newsletter. Remember.. no donation is too small!
If you don't want to mail items to me then please consider donating items to your local area shelters and churches. If you don't have items to donate then donate your kind thoughts. Not everyone can give items or money but everyone is capable of giving prayers and kind thoughts. :o)
PLEASE NOTE: The condition of the items you donate should be good, however, it is not necessary that there be tags attached. You can donate other stuffed items other than Ty products if you wish. The important thing to remember here is you are helping to bring a smile and comfort to the littlest victims of Hurricane Katrina when they need it most. Thank you for your help! While it is known that the victims of Hurricane Katrina need much more than stuffed animals and such, don't underestimate the power of the love and joy that a stuffed animal can give a child. We've all seen it! Another point to remember... it also helps the parents out a great deal knowing their precious children are in a little bit less pain and stress because they have that toy to cuddle. So many of us have "unwanted" Beanies or should I say those that aren't our favorites. My kids love their Beanies but they are all three planning on going through them and donating some as well. My daughter has already come up with a garbage bag full of Beanies.
UPDATE:
One of my local
churches has put a notice in our mailboxes listing items they are in need of for
