ZODIAC CONTEST ~ LAST DAY TO ENTER!!
The lucky winner of the FULL set of Zodiac Beanies that has been so generously donated by Andrea's Attic will be announced in the morning!! Thank you to all that entered, making this a very successful contest. I'd also like to thank those of you that have taken advantage of Andrea's terrific prices.. you have all received your extra entries, and there were a LOT of you that made purchases.

=THANK YOU FOR YOUR VOTES!! =
Look at what I received in my inbox last night from Ryan at the BeanieSpot Planet Beans had some serious competition in each category and it makes me feel wonderful that you all picked this site as your favorite!! :o) You can view the winners in all categories by reading 11/26/00 news HERE

eBeanie or Not?
Hi Richard, I thought you might like to know that at least 6 stores in my area received received big shipments of the 2 eBeanies today.  I had noticed that one Sunny bear had eBeanies printed on the back of the heart tag & no bar code.  This is the same as the back of the heart tag on Speckles.  I called some friends & we all checked the backs of our tags & found that only one store had this kind of tag. Does this mean that Ty changed his mind about putting these eBeanies on the internet or does it mean that after this month, the eBeanies will only be available if ordered on the internet with their eBeanie tags?   Will anyone care what the back of a tag has on it? (Bean eWonderlands comment - It will be interesting to see if any more reports filter through of this difference, it could well be that these Beanies were intended to be sold online and that Ty had a change of mind).

Clubby Buddy Shortage?
Barbara from Texas writes: I have been reading with interest all the stories of collectors receiving their Clubby III orders, but minus the Buddies. This leads me to believe these Buddies may be in short supply. "Tyme" will tell as I did order another set on Wednesday 11/22. I'll keep you informed on when & if I receive both the beanie & buddy.

Beanie Babies: Cute, Cuddly And Very Costly
Move aside, Hello Kitty. Hip, savvy Singaporeans have shifted loyalties to another cute collectible. Beanie Babies. This article from a Singapore newspaper gives a rundown on the history of Ty Beanie Babies and provides some 'Beanie Facts' that includes mentions of Ty Trade auctions that just ended yesterday. Also Hope the Praying Bear appears to be one of the most popular Beanies currently in Singapore.

Beanies Do Their Bit For Charity
A charity auction has been set up featuring Beanie Babies signed by Asian celebrities. All proceeds will go in aid of children with cancer at the Assisi Children's Centre. More than 30 celebrities have supplied their signatures. The auctions run from November 30th to December 9th. In a newspaper article, six of the celebrities participating in the auction were asked why they chose the particular Beanie Baby they signed. They were also asked "If you can design your own Beanie, what would it be?"

Police Put Out A Bulletin For Teddy Bears
The Police Department expects to be flooded with bears this holiday season. No, not the bears that roam through back yards. These are teddy bears that police officers collect for sick children. The bears -- ranging from 4-foot-tall specimens to miniature Beanie Babies -- are handed out in the pediatric wards of St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson and other hospitals. ARE WE TO EXPECT A 3RD BEAR?!
From: Ms. Janie
A collector shares the following; there have been rumors of a third bear before, I can't wait to see how this one pans out! Ms. Janie

Hey Ms. Janie!, I call my Beanie stores today and I got some good news. The first 2 stores said that they are expecting the two bears on the 1st or the 10th of December. And then when I called the third store the lady said they are expecting 3(!!) new bears. And I said well I haven't heard of any other bear and she said they are expecting three different kinds and then she said she doesn't know any of their names so she couldn't really help me. So I said thank you very much and she said to call back everyday this week because they should be coming in. Well I don't know if this third new bear is Huggy or maybe Ty has a another new bear coming out that I didn't know of. Have you heard anything about a third new bear? Happy Early Holidays! :o) Luv & Beanies, Brandon from MD

Beanies make their way into another time capsule:
From: Ms. Janie

Time capsules will give future a blast from past 2 capsules to be sealed in library by next week Crete's time capsules will be sealed in less than a week, and organizers are eagerly preparing more than 150 items that will be placed inside. The two capsules will be sealed in the Crete Public Library at noon Saturday. Crete Time Capsule, Inc., a non-profit organization made up of 13 community members, plans to seal a 50-year and a 100-year time capsule on each side of the fireplace in the library, 1177 Main St. Mike Liccar, who spearheaded the time capsule project, said its success relied upon community involvement. The time capsules are a "collective memory of people who live in the area," he said. Some of the items were typical of the 20th century, such as cell phones, a laptop computer, 45 records of the Beatles and Elvis, magazines about the 2000 election, Beanie Babies and Pokemon cards. http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/dsnews/281nd8.htm

Some still find sales strong for Beanies
From: Ms. Janie AND From The Daily Bean
Thanksgiving weekend, which traditionally begins with clogged roads and maddening airline delays, ended with a whimper Sunday night in Miami-Dade with relatively mild traffic on the roads and not many crowds at Miami International Airport. It was a different story in Broward where throngs surged through Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. ``This weekend's been crazy. Crazy!'' said cashier Marguerite Serrano, who witnessed a bulge in the sale of T-shirts, souvenirs and Beanie Babies. ``When they have the kids with them they spend more.'' http://www.herald.com/content/today/docs/015226.htm

DIGITAL DOLLS: Forget about Furbies and Beanie Babies
From: Ms. Janie

--- they're so analog. What's in? CyberSquats, new plush toys that aren't exactly meant for cuddling. Instead of whacking your computer when your hard drive crashes, just bash the CyberSquats upside the head or into a wall and they'll blurt out pre-recorded phrases such as "Shut down, dude," "I want my motherboard" or "That bytes." You'll meet the tattooed slacker Scuzzy Board, the office flirt Lacy Lap-Top and the brown-nosing Dingis.com. The six-inch dolls, from Progressive Innovations, sell for $9.99 each. Says company owner Craig Pollard: "We wanted something that you could throw around the office instead of pushing a button to make it say something. People are already pushing too many buttons anyway." Another company has created its own line of digital dolls called PuterBabies, with names like Byte the dog, Spam the pig, Floppy the rabbit and Web the duck. Site Abuse Update
From: Bean eWonderland
Many have said I should just let the dust settle and ignore the person or people responsible for the recent attacks against us, some have asked if the person has yet been caught. They have not been tracked down yet, but the authorities have stated that they would like to hear from Mandy Willis. This is the person responsible for sending various emails from Hotmail accounts to other webmasters stating that she does not usually go looking at pornographic sites and viewing the source code, but on this occasion she did and found some code for Bean eWonderland? I will leave you to come to your own conclusions on how legitimate that statement sounds. I do not even go around viewing source code on anyone's site not alone adult sites. One good piece of news, the Top 50 have finished their investigation and we have been removed from their suspended list, not that we should have been on it in the first place.

Message Id: 758538
clairol100 writes: Some Retailers have been very confused with the order forms. When they have punched for Buckingham they have punched Wiggly the worm instead. This has resulted in thousands of Wigglys arriving and very few Buckinghams. The same has happened with Huggy. Retailers say the punch holes are too close together. There is also a discrepancy with the count out of the factories. When told 12 Buckinghams have been sent only 4 or 5 have arrived! The second delivery should contain 36 and none arrived. A manual recount is needed and should start in Florida. http://web2-3.ty.com/cyberboard/news/msg758538.html

It is the time to watch where you purchase things online. This may be something good for our readers to be aware of...

When it comes to shopping on the Internet, what you see isn't always what you get.

The Ohio attorney general's office and national consumer advocacy groups say complaints about Internet fraud have increased every year, and usually crest during the holiday shopping season.

Disturbing?
From: Bean eWonderland
It has been brought to my attention that simply changing your email address to that of an owner of an eGroup news letter through your properties is all that is required to send a message to everyone from within the group. I do not know if this is true, if it is then I urge everyone using eGroups to be cautious as yesterdays events proved for me how damaging this can be. The Top 50 people have also suspended our account until they have investigated reports and I have heard from the Top 100 who also stated that complaints had been made to them, they were sensible enough to contact us and explain for which I must thank them. I have decided to first clear our name with the top 50 and if (as it seems) all this abuse is jealousy over a ranking system then you are welcome to it. We do not need this, I also urge the top sites people to look into who is causing these problems or there will be no sites left with them.

EXCITING WINEY NEWS!!
From: Lyn of HandCrafted Beauties
I had some really exciting news from Sally. She emailed me a couple of days ago, here is part of what she said: "I am ready for my new beginning! My new company name is Whimsical Wineys by Sally. They will be hand made by me and very limited." Now that is the Sally we have grown to love. She pulls herself up, brushes herself off and gets right back to it. She still has to move one more time but she said that will be a blessing as they hope to locate closer to where Bill, her husband, works. Read more HERE

Urgent Announcement from Bean eWonderland
It has been brought to my attention that there are a couple of adult orientated web sites with my name as the registrar. (Richard A'Court) These domain names were purchased by myself for customers of my www.big4domains.com web site.  It was also pointed out that these are being used to promote Bean eWonderland and another Beanie site called Stuffed Bean. This is not true, the owner of Stuffed Bean would also like me to point out that they have no connection with this material. I apologise for any concerns you may have had and will ensure that the owners transfer the adult web site names over as soon as possible.

Regards
Richard

==Planet Beans Comment: Some of you may have received a second email originating from eGroups last night. I don't believe this email was sent by Richard. It appears that someone is out to ruin his good reputation. I hope this issue will be resolved very soon.==

Important Announcement
I have not the time or the effort to get into a war or play games with the person or people attempting to give me a bad name. A second news group message was sent last night which did not originate from myself. Firstly I am going to close the news group as I cannot trust a service which allows this kind of activity and because the person behind this obviously has no concerns over who may receive this rubbish. Secondly I have found some html code on one of these adult sites which had a top100 link hidden of Bean eWonderland, I am looking into it and passing ALL the information on to the authorities. Many thanks to Yavett of the undergroundbean who has forwarded me a sheet showing the IP address used to send the second email received by you all late last night which you can View Here

In the article it states "Ty Inc., seeking to halt the copies of its hugely popular Beanie Babies, won nearly $300,000 from Los Angeles-based Imperial Toy Corp. after Ty accused its competitor of copyright infringement on eight of Imperial's Friendly Pebble Pets. Just two years later, Ty paid Imperial $1.35 million to settle a claim that Imperial sold a "Roary" lion toy a year before Ty began making a like-named product." Click Here For Complete Story

Hi Deb!
Hey I wanted to pass this on to you after I saw that you posted the link to the cyberboards about Brown nose Roxie. I had a similar experience too when I bought a Black Nose Roxie. It had Brown Fuzz on the Nose and I wiped it off and It was Totally Black. Roxie's Brown Fabric definitely sheds and This might be The explanation for The Brown Nose Roxie Rumor. But.... Sellers On ebay are starting to take advantage of this rumor and Listing brown nose Roxies. If you look at the pictures in these auctions Tho The Noses Look Black to me. You Might want to let your readers know this so they don't get taken by the rumor and these sellers on  ebay.

DOLLAR GENERAL ATTICS
Traci sends this in (Thank you Traci!!)
A couple of weeks ago I was at our local mall. I stopped in at Dollar General and found a bin full of Ty Treasures. If my memory serves me right it was Checkers. I would like to know how they are getting them? I almost bought one but I stick with the rule of thumb. I only get them from a reputable Ty retailer. Just thought I would let you know.

When I went into one of my favorite stores today the sales lady told me that she had some news for me. She said she just talked to someone at TY and they told her that they could order 36 or 48 periwinckles and sunnys from now until december 1st. She wasn't sure if they would be able to re-order any more than that. she put her order in and she let me give her my order from her :) (can't wait). She also said that periwinckle and sunny are the other two to make the trio with speckles. Speckles was not offered to them to buy, so it looks like if you want speckles to complete the trio then you have to have a computer or a friend to order for you. This sales lady is very reputable and I believe what she is telling me so cross your fingers and start watching your stores they will go fast and they might not be able to re-order any more!!!!!!! Mary Beths Update
From: Bean eWonderland
Hi Richard, I found your news item this morning regarding Mary Beth's Bean Bag World most interesting. However, it would be very much appreciated if a clarification could be stated for both the Daily Bean and North Trade Winds referenced reports. While of course there is no debating the figures published in the latest edition of Bean Bag World, it should be noted that the analysis and speculation presented as explanations for the  circulation data are derived from the personal theories and assumptions of The Daily Bean and North Trade Winds.  Although intriguing to read (along with many other "message board theorizations"),  only the published figures referenced appear based on fact. There are an enormous amount of variables required for a successful evaluation of circulation data, its' short and long term effects on a publication, and whether or not it impacts extraneous entities like a Web site. For most companies, the lion's share of this information remains  confidential. We hope to have further information soon regarding the Bean Bag World Web site - Mary Beth will certainly be releasing a statement at that time. Thanks in advance for providing an accurate representation to your readers on this subject. Karen Gomes - Staff Writer Mary Beth's Bean Bag World Monthly magazine.

Patti shares this at the Planet Beans Club!!
"
A while back at Underground bean there were alot of articles about a store called Canadian Tire here in Canada selling beanie babies. Well the flyer today has "authentic Ty" save 30% now $6.99. They have a picture with Bushy, Wisest, Niles, Swoop, Wiggly, Trumpet, Cinders, Glow, Gracie, Scurry, Rufus and Morrie. It advertises over 90 different characters, but selection may vary by store. Kind of interesting especially with the controversy with the selling of Ty products in the Dollar Stores in the states. Thought you might like to know."

Just got back from my retailer where the Ty reps were showing Sunny & Periwinkle! They're a trio with Speckles, and have basically the same sort of material, except Sunny is yellow/orange and Periwinkle is blue. They have "e" buttons on their chests, but will be sold through retailers, not the net. Sunny's birthday is Feb 13, 2000 and Periwinkle's is Feb 8, 2000. 2000 Holography Award Winners 'Out of This World'
From: Ms. Janie
Sew-on cloth authentication tag for the popular 2000 Ty Beanie Babies For the past eight years, the International Hologram Manufacturers Association (IHMA) and Reconnaissance International, publisher of Holography News(R) have given Excellence in Holography awards to outstanding holographic projects for the year. The 2000 Award winners include truly out-of-this world examples. The Best of Show winner, the US Postal Service (USPS) Space Discovery commemorative stamps top the list. This collection for four holographic stamps embossed by HoloPak OVD Security Solutions (and six non-holographic stamps) were printed by Sennett Security Products (SSP) as a single 'poster' showing different steps in America's space adventure. The suite was first issued at the World Stamp Expo in July this year to the raves of philatelic critics and collectors alike. Four projects received Commendations in the Authentication and Security category. Concern Russian Security Technology (CRST) was recognized for its 2D/3D, e-beam mastered self-adhesive label used by the Russian National Road Department as a traffic pass. CFC Northern Bank Note's innovative hot stamped, sew-on cloth authentication tag for the popular 2000 Ty Beanie Babies combined holography and thermochromic inks to fight fakes. American Bank Note Holographics' holographic induction cap seal on motor oil containers helped Quaker State boost sales by 25% in Mexico by giving consumers visual assurance that they were buying the real product. NovaVision, Pacific Holographics and API Foils combined forces to add a hot stamped authentication patch to the redesigned Metabolife product line, both curtailing much of the product counterfeiting and allowing Metabolife to expand its distribution channels with confidence.

Periwinkle
From: Bean eWonderland
Pat writes: Just thought you'd like to know that the auction with pictures for Periwinkle has been pulled from eBay. This basically proves that the item is genuine, since the only time we see this happen is when a genuine Ty item is offered before its official "announcement." Ty requires eBay to do this because of the trademark owner's legal right to declare the product "possibly stolen or fake, or otherwise unauthorized" if it's offered as an item in hand, but not yet officially released. What's odd about the reports on other sites is the fact that Ty is apparently identifying both Periwinkle and Sunny as "e-Beanies," with the same badge as Speckles, but is making them available through the retail store accounts, supposedly because some collectors don't have internet access. By definition, "e-commerce" refers to business conducted online, not walking into the neighbourhood shop and purchasing something off the shelf in a "brick and mortar" store.  Then again, it was Ty who gave us "Osito, the USA exclusive bear," wearing the flag of Mexico, so I guess we should have learned by now to "expect the unexpected" :)

I got my new copy of Marybeth's bean bag world today and Found some interesting information and distribution figures in it. If you look towards That back of the magazine There is a Page with Fine print on the bottom that tells how many copies were printed for distributions and how many subscribers they have by mail. Well I compared the figures in this month's issue to one from 6 months ago. The number of Copies of this month's issue printed for Distribution is 170,000 and thats down from 390,000 copies printed for distribution 6 months ago. That is a Cut of more than 50%!!! Subcribers by mail have dropped from 45,000 to a little over 36,000-a drop of almost 10,000. This must be why the website had to close. They seem to be losing readers and subscribers and I guess That means They are losing lots of money too! It doesn't look good for this hobby's only magazine. Does it? The numbers tell the story.

'Bush wins' newspapers become instant collectibles
From: Ms. Janie
Gore wins! Wait, sorry. Bush wins! Hold on, sorry again. The real winner is: Whoever caught those gaffes. Early risers who grabbed the few first-edition newspapers that promulgated a Bush win are swamping cyberauction blocks with their Nov. 8 papers that harken to the well-known "Dewey Defeats Truman" headline in the Chicago Tribune following the 1948 election. Newspaper editors whose eagerness to inform and scoop on a superstretched deadline in the wee hours of Nov. 8 have become the targets of enterprising newspaper readers who are equally eager to capitalize on those editors' welldocumented mistakes. Gaffes 'Net big bucks Papers in New York City, Atlanta, Miami, Austin, Texas, and elsewhere that went to press proclaiming Bush as the next president of the United States are now being hawked for top dollars on Internet trading sites. The New York Post's half-page "BUSH WINS!" is behind a bidding frenzy on eBay.com, with hundreds of owners soliciting bids sometimes creeping toward $600. A Miami Herald banner bellowing "BUSH WINS IT" was soliciting $255 bids by midday Friday, with its proud owner assuring the paper's growing rarity. A search for "Bush Wins" on eBay.com reported almost 2,500 hits. Most of those papers were selling for about $50 on Friday. http://www.denverpost.com/business/biz1111a.htm

Buckingham Picture Update
From: Bean eWonderland
Hi, Richard - Its me, Cynthia from Sakura Beanie World.  Just wanted to comment on the Buckingham Buddy.  You know that I make custom beanie buddies of Beanies that do not have buddies yet, so you can imagine I was surprised to see that Buckingham Buddy photo.  Seems like someone "made" this Buckingham by photo editing and not actually enhancing or decorating the Cranberry Buddy.  The patch looks too perfect and the colour is off (if you compare it to the buddy's body).  Someone may have just taken the patch from the beanie and placed it over the pic of the Cranberry buddy (by photo editing).  I made a Buckingham Buddy by doing this with a 2000 Signature Buddy to show you. Retailers Name Their Top Picks For Holiday Gifts

The recently announced federal tax cuts, high levels of employment and sustained consumer confidence have set the stage for solid gains in the all-important fourth quarter, Retail Council of Canada (RCC) reported today. Collectibles are hot. Plates, ornaments and figurines from Royal Doulton and Bradford Exchange remain popular choices, as are Peanuts collectibles and Beanie Babies. Jim Carrey's upcoming "Grinch" movie will spur sales of Dr. Suess plush characters and collectibles. Integrity is of the utmost significance in this type of service. Therefore, we must maintain certain limits on what we will authenticate. Another example is the USA Bear without a flag. http://web3-1.ty.com/cyberboard/news/msg752252.html

Teenie Beanie poll
From: Ms. Janie
With the general election a mere 48 hours away, Eh? is in a tizzy trying to measure the public's mood. Our correspondents left no burger unturned in search of the political zeitgeist. Hence, ``Pulse of the Northland: Beanie Decision 2000.'' At McDonald's restaurants across the Northland, customers can buy three Teenie Beanie Babies, each representing a different political stripe. There's ``Lefty the Donkey'' (clearly a Democrat), ``Righty the Elephant'' (a Republican) and a white bear known as ``Libearty'' -- representing, apparently, all third parties. Eh? thought it would be telling to see, at $2.49 each, which Beanie was proving most popular at a half-dozen area McDonald's. But alas: Beanie results are just as inconclusive as highfalutin' scientific polls. ``They are pretty darned even, just like the race,'' says Paula Tomlinson, manager of the London Road McDonald's in Duluth. ``We don't have a crystal ball.'' ``I think most people are buying for the full set,'' said Janice Nelson, first assistant at Superior's East End McDonald's. Only the Central Entrance McDonald's seemed to have a front runner: Lefty -- by a nose, at least as of Friday. http://www.duluthnews.com/today/dnt/local/eh.htm

BUCKINGHAM BUDDY?!
From: Beanie Kidz and shared by Beanie Spot
We have received the following from a reader:
'I was visiting my local Beanie store today as I usually do and they had received their regular Ty shipment. They were unpacking while I was their so I hung around for a bit
(mainly to see if they had received any holiday beanies or Buckinghams)
They began putting out the Beanies onto the shelves but it was just the regular Ty stock they usually got. I asked at the counter if they had received any Buckinghams and they said yes, but they weren't putting them out onto the shelves. I managed to get one for £5.99 and as I was chatting to the assistant I asked if they had received any other special Beanies/Buddies. They told me they had got the Zodiac Beanies and the Holiday types and also some Buckingham Buddies.
They seemed confused at being sent the Buckingham Buddies as they weren't on the order form and their Ty rep didn't mention them, but they just put it down to them getting whatever Ty sent.
They were sent 6 Buckingham Buddies and I managed to buy one for £12, but it was only one per person. Do you know anything about these?'

Maybe Ty will be announcing a Buckingham Buddy soon, but please treat this as a rumor for now.
