9/21/99  Ty Sues Holy Bears! HOUSTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Using teddy bears to help spread the Word of God apparently does not sit well with the maker of Beanie Babies® products. Ty, Inc. has filed a lawsuit against HolyBears, Inc. asking for all HolyBears(TM) teddy bears to be ``impounded for destruction.''

``Our teddy bears were independently developed and do not infringe on anyone's copyright,'' said Robert S. LeClair, founder of HolyBears. ``Our bears are little messengers of God's Word, and we will fight to protect them from destruction even as we pray for their aggressors.'' http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/990921/tx_ty_sues_1.html <full article>

We'd love to hear your opinions on this latest move by Ty to once again try and prove that he is the "stuffed toy king". Please go to the PLANET BEANS CLUB and post your opinions on this. If we get enough responses, we will try to send them via email to someone at Ty and hopefully put an end to this latest act of "bullying" by Mr. Warner.

Editorial: Bagging the Beanies Will the sought-after toys be retired - or retooled?
Toy analysts do not believe Beanie Baby production will end suddenly and forever at the stroke of midnight. Despite a sluggish market, the Beanies still represent a cash menagerie. And there are signs, including an announcement by McDonald's that it will offer more Teenie Beanies with its Happy Meals come spring, that the line will keep on humming. More likely, a slightly modified, renamed version will be introduced to get the new millennium off to a toy-mad start. Full Article
