New Beanie Baby Will Help
Victims
From: Ms. Janie
Profits From New Beanie Baby Will
Go to American Red Cross Beanie Babies will soon be doing their part
to help the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Ty Inc. said it
is introducing the ``America'' Beanie Baby, with all the profits going
to the American Red Cross. Ty has pledged at least $1 million from the
sale of the blue bear with the American flag on its chest, but the
company expects the donation will be far larger. Following Princess
Diana's death, the company introduced a Beanie Baby Princess, which
raised $21 million for the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. The
company said the ``America'' Beanie Baby will be sold around the world
and would start appearing in stores as early as this week. http://biz.yahoo.com/apf/010926/attacks_beanie_babies_1.html
CUTE PICTURE
Hi Ms. Janie, my fiancée Ben is a complete beanie nut. He has
emailed you before with articles before etc and I thought this would
be funny. He took this silly picture (enclosed) of himself with his
old beanies the other night pretending to be Peggy Gallagher(you know
the pose I mean!). He checks your page everyday for the latest news
and think it would be amusing if he checked the page and saw himself!
He will find it very funny and he is at work at the moment so he
doesn't know I have sent this!! He has sent the pic to a lot of his
American friends (we are in the UK), so he has no shame!! LOL!!
Thanks, Debbie (Can't wait to see his face!!). http://www.msjanie.com/typhotos/ben_posing_as_peggy.html

AMERICA TRADEMARK
From: Ms. Janie
Thanks to Sly for sharing the
following:
Hi Ms. Janie! This is amazing! On September 12, 2001 Ty applied to
register a Trademark on "America" and listed "Plush
Toys" as the goods and services. I find this amazing because this
is only 1 day after the tragic events that took place in this country.
Ty Inc. and Mr. Warner sure did react extraordinarily fast and didn't
take much time to think about how they could help those affected by
the tragic events of 2 weeks ago. This means That Ty conceived and
thought about producing a beanie baby to help those in need the same
day the tragic attacks took place. Then the next day Ty Inc filed for
the trademark on America the Beanie baby! That is truly amazing!!! Way

From: Ms. Janie
A special thanks to Sly for
sharing the following article:
Sports stars such as Tiger Woods, Andre Agassi and Venus Williams
(news - web sites) and fans like New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani (news
- web sites) are helping raise millions of dollars for victims of the
recent attacks on the U.S. through ``Auction for America.'' The
Internet auction site E-bay set up ``Auction for America'' with a
stated goal of raising $100 million in 100 days with all the proceeds
going to disaster relief charities like the September 11th Fund and
Twin Towers Fund. Ordinary citizens, corporations and organizations
from all industries were encouraged to participate and the sports
world, its fans and memorabilia collectors were answering the call,
beginning with Giuliani, the self-proclaimed number one New York
Yankees fan. The New York City Mayor helped kick off the drive by
promising to provide a baseball autographed by Hall of Famer Yogi
Berra that was given to Giuliani at Yankee Stadium on ''Yogi Berra
Day'' in 1999. ``Sports memorabilia items have been incredibly hot
over the last few years,'' said Kevin Pursglove, senior director of
communications for E-bay. ``We expect it will play a significant role
in our efforts to raise the $100 million.'' http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20010925/wr/attack_auction_dc_1.html

America Shipping
From: Bean

From the email: I wanted to
let you know that I am from IL and I called a few stores today and
found 2 stores that had received a shipment of the American
Bear. They said they only got 12. Both stores are not
putting them out for their customers, rather they are raffling them
off. One store is charging $2 for a raffle ticket and the other
is charging $10 for a ticket. I thought the bear was made for
customers to buy and the profits going to the red cross and not the
stores. I was a bit upset to hear this.

Nimda worm keeps going
and going
From: Vikki of Caranois Limited
An antivirus company reports a spike in the number of new
infections of the lethal Nimda worm detected. North America suffers
five times more hits than any other region.
"Nimda--which is "admin," the shortened form of
"system administrator," spelled backwards--started spreading
early Tuesday morning and quickly infected PCs and servers across the
Internet. Also known as readme.exe and W32.Nimda, the worm is the
first to use four different methods to infect not only PCs running
Windows 95, 98, Me and 2000, but also servers running Windows 2000
(news - web sites). The worm spreads by e-mailing itself out as an
attachment, scanning for--and then infecting--vulnerable Web servers
running Microsoft's Internet Information Server software, copying
itself to shared disk drives on business intranets and appending
java-script to Web pages that will download the worm to a surfer's PC
when they view the page. While the worm does not delete data, Nimda
does overwrite a number of files and spreads to shared computer hard
disks, allowing it to wreak havoc on home computers and networks.
Read
the rest of the story
Email:
The worm spreads via email by sending a copy of itself within a mail
that exploits the security vulnerability discussed in Microsoft Security
Bulletin MS01-020.
As the bulletin describes, the vulnerability lies in Internet Explorer,
but can be exploited via email. Simply opening the email itself would be
sufficient to infect the machine – it would not be necessary to open
an attachment.
Anti-virus vendors are currently developing updated scanning tools that will detect and disarm mails sent by the virus. But even in the absence of these tools, patches and updated versions of IE have been available for some time to eliminate the vulnerability. Customers who have installed any of the following updates would be at no risk of infection by email:

UK Gripe II
From: Bean
eWonderland
From the email: I was the
one that started the UK gripe last time, so I thought I would try to
take a back seat this time, but since others have started I couldn't
shut up! I have also sent strongly worded e-mails to TY's BBOC -
not that that will achieve anything!
What really annoys me this time is that we can't even READ the
newsletter or SEE the offers to which we, as members, are supposed to be
entitled as we don't have a zip code - never mind BUY anything. TY
has gone one step too far this time, in my opinion. Its almost as
if non US customers don't exist - you wouldn't mind so much if there was
an apology or explanation, or some kind of alternative offered.
I am one FED UP collector (so are my 2 daughters, Mum, Mum-in law and sister-in-law) - I have been collecting TY beanies, attics, buddies, kids cards etc. for over 3 years now and am almost at the end of my tether. We in the UK never were able to order Classy on-line (as you said we would) were we TY? I know we will be able to get these things somewhere somehow eventually, but that is not the point. I cannot stand being treated as some kind of alien. All the best Tracey
Bean eWonderlands comment - I agree it is annoying that the rest of the world are constantly forgotten about when it comes to online ordering at Ty. I also remember a statement from Ty Warner himself on the Cyber boards that the rest of the world would be able to order Classy online. Why it is so difficult for Ty to implement a system which would enable non US residents the chance to order is beyond me. As I have said time and time again, others can do it so why can't Ty Inc. All the other leading toy and collectible manufacturers offer a service outside of the USA !!

Ty will reintroduce Baby
Curly with the Americana sweater
From: Ms. Janie
The following note was shared
from a Ty retailer who is so proud to be an American and a Ty account
holder.
Ms. Janie, Ty has realized that many American's are having difficulties finding USA flags and patriotic symbols. I have recently been told that Ty will reintroduce Baby Curly with the Americana sweater. As we all know Ty changed the sweater on this bear sometime ago and has now decided to change back so that American's can proudly own an American patriotic symbol. Baby Curly has always been one of my favorites and always sold well. I expect this bear to fly off the shelves. I would venture to say many parents would be purchasing it for their children as a part of history. I have also been told that there will be a price reduction from Ty on this bear. This means that Baby Curly will be released again at a lower price. Just Ty's way of saying God Bless America Sincerely, One happy Ty retailer
CHRISTMAS SHOPPING IN SEPTEMBER (good
idea!!)
Mayor Giuliani makes my day!
From: Ms. Janie
Giuliani is a poised individual
whose strength has been tested many times over! His leadership has
been remarkable and his candor appreciated by many.
As I sat and watched CNN yesterday morning Giuliani offered a humorous side which has not been seen in over a week. He basically scolds New Yorkers for not shopping. He reminds them that they complain and complain every year that the holiday seasons are too crowded in New York. He encourages them to shop early and for them NOT to forget that he still expects his gifts and they better not be chinsing on them!
His words made me laugh because I was not expecting them nor do I believe anyone at the press conference was either. I had to applaud him for his humor and words of wisdom.
Part of the Mayor's press conference; There is a way that everybody can help us, New Yorkers and everybody all over the country. Come here and spend money, just spend a little money. Like go to a store, do your Christmas or holiday shopping now, this weekend. Think of it this way, usually New Yorkers are complaining and complaining and complaining that it's so crowded when they go shopping, right? Well, it's not crowded now. The stores are half empty. Go, buy the stuff you are going to need for Christmas, buy the stuff you're going to need for Hanneka, buy the stuff you're going to need for Thanksgiving, buy your birthday gifts for the next three or for months and you'll be ahead of everybody else. And the reality is that there's nothing that you should be concerned about that isn't being taken care of and thought of. So get out there -- I know the reason why you are staying home. It is not because you are afraid, I'm talking to New Yorkers now. The reason you are staying home is you're mourning and involved in this and you're a little confused. And go shopping, we're the best shoppers in the world. And I hope the stores are giving some bargains because going shopping at a time like this you're not going to want to pay full price.
GIULIANI: But the reality is, I expect to get all my Christmas presents this year. I don't expect anybody to be chinsing on Christmas presents. So you better go out and buy them now.

SALLY WINEY ONLINE BEAR MAKING CLASS
From: Ms. Janie
Sally Winey is going to be
teaching an online class at the Teddy Bear and Friends web site.
Celebrate the teddy bear's 100th birthday by making Sally's 12-inch,
fully jointed Centennial Bear for yourself or for a special gift.
Inspired by the Smithsonian's 1903 teddy bear from the Ideal Toy Co.
and by the teddy bear's centennial in 2002, Sally has created her
representation of this famous bear as a way to say, "Happy
Birthday, Ted."
Don't miss out! Class begins October 15 and will remain on a password-protected area of our Web site through November 15. The cost is only $50. During this time period, you can take this class day or night, at your convenience, and at your own pace. Sally will be there, via e-mail, to answer all your questions along the way. Not only will you have ample time to get your questions answered and your bear made, but you can complete this class even if your car's in the shop, your child has the flu, and you're out of clean clothes.

a few stitches into the paws. LOOKS GREAT. God Bless America Katya

COUNTERFEIT BUCKINGHAM
From: Ms. Janie
A special thanks to Nancy for
sharing the following Hi Ms. Janie- First of all thank you for
returning my email so quickly. I purchased a Buckingham from ebay and
knew as soon as I received it something was not right. I compared it
to the questionable on on ppbags.com and it had the same things wrong.
I then found out about some other things to look for and they are all
there. Fortunately my cousin has an authentic Buckingham and I was
able to do a comparison. The hole in the hang tag on the fake was
larger as well as the red tag holder ( the plastic piece was longer
and thinner than authentic). The material was a different shade of
burgundy and well as rougher in feel and appearance. There is no
" beanie babies " in the hologram star on the tush of the
fake and the ink is a different color. Here is the tush tag number
4TFDSAER. I have yet to find out this IS a fake beanie number but
after comparing the two beanies there is no question in my mind. The
nose on the fake is sticks out farther than authentic beanies, the
crown a little larger and the gold ribbon not the same color. I am
told I will get a refund because the seller states he did not know. I
will never believe that. Thanks for your time. Nancy PS - I forgot to
tell you also the hang tag failed the heat test!
Build-A-Bear Workshop to Donate At
Least 5,000 Bears
From: Ms. Janie
Build-A-Bear Workshop announced
this week that employees across the country are making bears to send
with their personal notes of hope and love to the victims and families
of this week's tragic events. Build-A-Bear Workshop is working with
local area community blood banks to donate the Bears and messages that
will be transported by the National Guard to areas of need.
Build-A-Bear Workshop will make and donate at least 5000 bears in the
next week.
In a statement Build-A-Bear Workshop founder and Chief Executive Bear, Maxine Clark, said, "The tragic events of this past week led many of our associates to want to help especially in our stores in the Northeast where so many people have relatives that are still missing. We wanted to respond and to share what we know best...hugs. As Americans look for comfort and tangible ways to express their sadness and their concern, each of our Associates across the country will take a few moments this week to make a bear and share their thoughts with the survivors and the families affected by this terrible tragedy. This is our way of sending hope and to remember the strength of our great country and the freedoms we hold so dear."

AMERICA BEAR ON TV
From: Ms. Janie
Janie, My local news just had a 15 second spot about the America
bear. It showed the actual bear being held by a man in a business suit,
but we only saw his (the man's) arms. Perhaps they belonged to the CEO
because the voice over said that the CEO of Ty announced the bear and
that profits were going to the American Red Cross. The newsperson said
that the bear will go on sale next week. I drove the 2 miles from my
home to the Ty corporate building in Westmont this afternoon, taking
along my digital camera. I hoped to get a photo of the large American
flag that one of your readers reported was hanging from the building,
but unfortunately it was no longer there. Nancy

Your opinion counts
From: Bean
eWonderland
We have been informed (not
confirmed) that eBay are in the process of pulling all pre sales for
America beanie baby. I have conducted a quick search and it does seem
that this is indeed the case with just a handful listed. A few more
hate mails from sellers who are blaming us for this, all I can say is
GOOD I am glad that if it was partly down to us and the recent polls I

America Poll
From: Bean
eWonderland
Late last night our America
Beanie poll was sabotaged so we have removed it. Before this happened,
as stated in yesterdays news the vote was overwhelming towards secondary
dealers leaving this bear alone and for eBay to remove all pre-sales. I
suspect one of the same people who have been sending us many hate mails
and threats through aol accounts that not surprisingly close down
shortly afterwards. Maybe the same person who boasted they will fetch
$50.00 for this bear. I feel the point has now been proven by the
collectors who took the time to vote 88% of you want secondary dealers
to leave this bear alone even if you do claim profits will go to
charity.

From the email: I am a secondary dealer on eBay, and I voted on your
poll to NOT sell the America Bear. I think it is terrible that people
are trying to profit from such a wonderful gesture that Ty made. It is
very hard to say if the money they make in profit would actually go to a
Charity at all. I also think Ty should sell the America Bear to
Retailers for $5 so the whole purchase amount would go to the Red Cross.
I will buy several of these bears for gifts for friends and family but I
will not sell any on eBay. Just thought you would like the opinion
of an eBay seller who will not sell this special Bear for profit. Bean

America Poll at Bean
eWonderland
Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote in our America
Beanie Poll. If you are a secondary dealer who is thinking of stocking
up on this one you might like to view what our readers feel first. At
least 88% of them feel you should LEAVE this bear alone and only 23%
feel it is ok to sell it if you claim that profits will be donated, 98%
are going to wait for a retailer to stock it. This poll is still open to
everyone and I feel that the figures would be even more in favour of
'leave it alone' if votes from secondary dealers themselves were not in
the equation. View

What
awesome students we have at McConnell. It is inspiring to see the waves
of red, white, and blue as you walk the halls of McConnell. The
most moving time today here at McConnell was in the cafeteria moments
after the moment of silence. A group of 8th grade students began singing
the chorus from Lee Greenwood's "God Bless The USA." Everyone
joined in singing and then cheers rang through the cafeteria at the end
of the song. What patriotism and unity our kids are showing during
this time. Our 8th graders demonstrated great leadership.

Sammy Schrock Cancer Fundraiser
Nikki of PJCC
shares the following:
John Samuel "Sammy" Schrock is the grandson of H. Paul
Schrock and son of Brad Schrock. In October of 2000, he was diagnosed
with an aggressive malignant brain tumor called medulloblastoma. Two
year old Sammy was immediately admitted to the St. Louis Children's
Hospital where he underwent brain surgery to remove a golf ball-sized
tumor from his brain stem. Since the surgery, Sam has undergone
radiation treatment to his brain and spine and a year of chemotherapy
treatments in St. Louis. Sammy has 2 older brothers and a baby sister,
Zoe, born 6 weeks before he was first diagnosed. Because his mother
stays home to care for Sammy, the expenses related to his condition have
become increasingly overwhelming. As proud and determined as Sammy's
parents have been to make it on their own, they have reached the point
of asking for help. Therefore, we are trying to give them the assistance
they need by sponsoring a golf outing in Sammy's honor on Saturday,
October 6th at the Kaskaskia Country Club in Arcola. In order to help
Sammy and his parents we need your participation.
All proceeds from the fundraiser--including several raffles, and a specially tagged Sammy Beanie--will go to the Sammy Schrock Cancer Fund. If you would like more information about about Sammy, his family, and his battle with cancer, you can visit his website at www.sammyschrock.com to learn more. Hotel Beanie Baby
From: Bean
eWonderland
As a toy merchant, Beanie Babies mogul Ty Warner is a genius. As a
hotel operator, he's got a lot to learn. in his new career as a
luxury hotelier, Warner, 57, is learning that it pays to get out and
press the flesh. Using some of the wealth acquired from peddling
pellet-stuffed knickknacks like Diddley the Fantasy Dog, Warner has
spent $472 million in the past two years to acquire trophy properties
that include the Four Seasons Hotel in New York, the Four Seasons Resort
in Montecito near Santa Barbara and the San Ysidro Ranch south of Santa
Barbara, where Jacqueline and John F. Kennedy honeymooned.
Along with the acquisitions come headaches: Lost business due to Warner's renovations on the Santa Barbara and New York hotels was blamed for a quarter of the 2.3% drop in U.S. operating profit margin for the management company that runs Four Seasons hotels. And now--perhaps worse than losing money--Warner has to lift his veil of secrecy to appease his wealthy neighbors in Montecito who are upset over his expansion plans. CLOSET COLLECTOR
Hi All,
AMAZING TO ME
Out of curiosity I have just checked to see how many people are
doing pre-sells for AMERICA the Beanie Bear. It's amazing how many
people are actually trying to make HUGE profits from this bear. I would
bet they will be kicking themselves when they see how easy America will
be to obtain in the stores. Ty Warner has promised that America will be
available WORLD-WIDE. This is a "charity" bear so you know it
won't retire quickly. If you are smart, and I know many of you are, wait
and get this bear for retail and not from all of those individuals
trying to make profits off of America's tragedy. Some are spending over
$30. If you purchase 4 or 5 of these Bears in the retail stores.. more
money will go to the American Red Cross and to the people at their time
of need. Come on people.. use your brain!! :o)
Rose has informed me that some of the auctions are from people trying to help different causes such as the Firefighters and the American Red Cross. To those sellers I commend you to the rest.. well I think you know how I feel.

BEV SENDS THIS TO ME VIA EMAIL
This is today's editorial column
from one of my favorite columnists, Leonard Pitts, who writes for the
Miami Herald. He usually offers cogent thoughts on race relations
from the perspective of black Americans. I thought this column was
worth sending to you all as we pray for our country and its leadership.
Ray
Published Wednesday, September 12, 2001
We'll go forward from this moment. It's my job to have something to
say. They pay me to provide words that help make sense of that which troubles
the American soul. But in this moment of airless shock when hot tears
sting disbelieving eyes, the thing I can find to say, the only words
that seem to fit, must be addressed to the unknown author of this
suffering.
You monster. You beast. You unspeakable bastard. What lesson did you
hope to teach us by your coward's attack on our World Trade Center, our
Pentagon, us? What was it you hoped we would learn? Whatever it was,
please know that you failed.
Did you want us to respect your cause? You just damned your cause.
Did you want to make us fear? You just steeled our resolve.
Did you want to tear us apart? You just brought us together.
Let me tell you about my people. We are a vast and
quarrelsome family, a family rent by racial, social, political and class
division, but a family nonetheless. We're frivolous, yes, capable of
expending tremendous emotional energy on pop cultural minutiae -- a
singer's revealing dress, a ball team's misfortune, a cartoon mouse.
We're wealthy, too, spoiled by the ready availability of trinkets and
material goods, and maybe because of that, we walk through life with a
certain sense of blithe entitlement. We are fundamentally decent, though
-- peace-loving and compassionate. We struggle to know the right thing
and to do it. And we are, the overwhelming majority of us, people of
faith, believers in a just and loving God.
Some
people -- you, perhaps -- think that any or all of this makes us weak.
You're mistaken. We are not weak. Indeed, are strong in ways that cannot
be measured by arsenals.
IN PAIN
Yes, we're in pain now. We are in mourning and we are in shock.
We're still grappling with the unreality of the awful thing you did,
still working to make ourselves understand that this isn't a special
effect from some Hollywood blockbuster, isn't the plot development from
a Tom Clancy novel. Both in terms of the awful scope of their ambition
and the probable final death toll, your attacks are likely to go down as
the worst acts of terrorism in the history of the United States and,
probably, the history of the world. You've bloodied us
as we have never been bloodied before.
But there's a gulf of difference between making us bloodied and making
us fall. This is the lesson Japan was taught to its bitter sorrow the
last time anyone hit us this hard, the last time anyone brought us such
abrupt and monumental pain. When roused, we are righteous in our
outrage, terrible in our force. When provoked b this level of barbarism,
we will bear any suffering, pay any cost, go to any length, in the
pursuit of justice.
I tell you this without fear of contradiction. I know my people, as you,
I think, do not. What I know reassures me. It also causes me to tremble
with dread of the future.
In the days to come, there will be recrimination and accusation, fingers
pointing to determine whose failure allowed this to happen and what can
be done to prevent it from happening again. There will be heightened
security, misguided talk of revoking basic freedoms. We'll go forward
from this moment sobered, chastened, sad. But determined, too.
Unimaginably determined.
THE STEEL IN US
You see, the steel in us is not always readily apparent. That aspect
of our character is seldom understood by people who don't know us well.
On this day, the family's bickering is put on hold. As Americans
we will weep, as Americans we will mourn, and as Americans, we will rise
in defense of all that we cherish.
So I ask again: What was it you hoped to teach us?
It occurs to me that maybe you just wanted us to know the depths of your
hatred. If that's the case, consider the message received. An take this
message in exchange: You don't know my people. You don't know what we're
capable of. You don't know what you just started.
But you're about to learn.

If you can confirm this to be true or false, please email me. Heather the daily bean http://www.heatherlea.com Hi Heather ..... I find I must have an answer to a question that is beginning to bug me. I have been to all my Ty stores this past week-and 2 of them are stating that they have been told by Ty representatives, that Poopsie is being taken off the shelves. This is due to looking so much like Winnie -the- Pooh. Have I missed this info, or is it just another rumour?? Thankyou.....M. in Ontario NO Sakura and Nipponia Teenie Beanies From: Ms. Janie In the past week there have been reports of Sakura and Nipponia Tennie Beanies surfacing in Japan. These Teenie Beanies were reported to have been shown at the trade show originally. I was also told that they were spotted at McDonalds restaurants.
I e-mailed the webmaster who shared the information and questioned it simply because it did not make any sense. Then I contacted a few of my sources in Japan and was told that the Japanese message boards did NOT contain any information on these Teenies nor were they being offered at any McDonalds Restaurant.
I answered much e-mail from collectors wanting me to verify this story. I informed that that I found the story to be a hoax and questioned why McDonalds would be at a trade show to begin with. If you compare the photos posted throughout the Internet with a REAL Teenie, you will see that the writing on the tag and the nose on the bear do NOT match.
It's very unfortunate that this rumor was started but once again a lesson in what you chose to believe!

MORE TO PROVE BEANIE PEOPLE REALLY ARE
THE BEST!!
Ms. Janie shared this in her news yesterday and I wanted to pass it
on to all of you. If you are given the chance to reach out to someone
needing help.. you should do it. One never knows when you may be the one
needing it someday. As the old saying goes.. do unto others and you'd
like others do to unto you. :o) Besides.. it feels wonderful to know
that you've put a smile on someone's face and warmed their hearts.
Good Morning Ms. Janie,
I just want to share with you something that still overwhelms me. About
three weeks ago my niece was diagnosed with Leukemia. This is just
devastating for any family and definitely a parent's worst nightmare.
After the initial crying jags I decided I wanted to do SOMETHING to
help. Well after seeing my niece in hospital I became touched by all the
brave little children in there so decided I wanted to bring a beanie up
to all of them. We asked how many children, and there were 40. I put an
ad up on the trading boards that I had a Brittania for best offer of
beanies so I could fill a basket to take to children in a hospital.
Complete strangers e-mailed me and just asked for my address and offered
to send beanies. Also some of my beanie friends offered to just send
beanies as well. In less than a week I had 40 beanies and a separate
basket for my niece as well! I truly am overwhelmed by the generosity of
beanie people!!! Should you decide to put this note up I hope these
people see themselves and know how much their kindness has meant. I feel
so blessed to be a part of such an amazing community of people! Thanks
to all!~Pam :o)

Ebay: New Auction
'Stores' But Stock Sale Turns Heads
From: Bean
eWonderland
Ebay has unveiled a storefront spin on its popular Web site that it
hopes will changes the minds of traditional retailers who think online
auctions are only for those with closets full of Beanie Babies.
The company was celebrating what it called the official launch of Ebay
Stores, a service which adds a new level of sophistication to the
efforts made by some Ebay power sellers. The company said that some
20,000 sellers have built Ebay Stores since sign-ups began for the new
service in June. While some stores do sell nothing but Beanie Babies,
higher-profile adopters of the Ebay Stores concept include IBM, which is
selling PCs, servers and software. Full

Sakura and Nipponia
Teenie Beanie - UPDATE
From: BeanyBabys.com
We have received information that the Sakura and Nipponia Teenie
Beanie photos sent us by Planet-Ty
were actually fake. The following photos: (Photo1,
Photo2
and Photo3)
were posted on the Sakura
Network website a few months ago. These pictures were taken by a
well-known Beanie web site owner in Japan.
The Teenie Beanies Nipponia and Sakura were made by another Beanie Baby
fan, who doesn't have any relation with Ty or McDonalds. He/She made
these Teenies from old Teenies (please note the brown noses), and showed
them in an off-line meeting as just a JOKE.
The person who sent us the details also said:
"I don't understand why Planet-Ty display the pictures and have
their site name and "Property of Planet-Ty". Needless to say,
Planet-Ty does not have any right to these pictures. I will not take any
action, but hear the lawyers in U.S. may investigate about this issue
from copyright violation point of view"

Ebay: New Auction 'Stores' But
Stock Sale Turns Heads
From: BeanyBabys.com
Ebay has unveiled a storefront spin on its popular Web site that it
hopes will changes the minds of traditional retailers who think online
auctions are only for those with closets full of Beanie Babies. But the
Ebay offering that really drew attention Thursday was the for-sale sign
it stamped on up to $1 billion worth of stock. The company said that
some 20,000 sellers have built Ebay Stores since sign-ups began for the
new service in June, each consolidating their auctions on customized
Ebay "home pages." And, with Ebay's previously unveiled
"Buy Now" functionality - which can do an end-run around the
drawn-out bidding process - many of the Ebay sellers are combining
auctions with fixed-price sales. While some stores do sell nothing but
Beanie Babies, higher-profile adopters of the Ebay Stores concept
include IBM, which is selling PCs, servers and software... View HERE

Whatever you collect, you
can display it with personality
From: Heather of The Daily Bean
The thrill of discovery -- sometimes even the memory of where we've
made it -- feeds our urge to collect things. Found objects such as
seashells later remind us of a pleasant stroll on the beach. Vintage
objects inspire curiosity about their history. The desire to collect may
take root early in our lives, starting with Beanie Babies or Legos,
Barbies or baseball cards. As we grow up, the desire to acquire can
evolve into a pricey hobby that involves serious forays into antique
shops, flea markets and cyberspace for that must-have art glass,
botanical print, paperweight or quilt -- whatever is irresistible to us.
We add to, upgrade and outgrow our collections. But we always need an
attractive way to display them. The prevailing wisdom is to group all
objects of a category. That's good advice, particularly with small
pieces that tend to look lonely in pairs or solo.

TANGERINE BUDDY DIFFERENCES
From: Ms. Janie
Ms. Janie. I got Tangerine Buddies today and they are different. One
is the material of Mellow and the other is of the plush material. Here
is their photo. Dianne http://www.msjanie.com/typhotos/tangerine_buddies.html
I wrote to Dianne and asked if both of these had Buddy tags, her
response was as follows; yes they are identical in every way except the
fabric. Both have eyebrows and mouths stitched on.
_________
Hi, Has anyone alerted you to the two Tangerine Buddies out there? I
found two different styles today in Illinois. One is Mellow dyed orange
with the Tangerine tag on him and one is a beautiful orange/silver fur
with a Tangerine tag. Sorry but don't have a camera to send you a pic.
Hope someone else does as you're not going to believe it! Carol
FOOTIE LUCK
From: Ms. Janie
I got lucky Wednesday and found 3
footie boppers, two of which are on their way now to a friend Trela in
Oklahoma who I have swapped with a lot lately. (I am in Cornwall
England). Anyway England were playing Albania Wednesday night in the
World Cup so I perched them on top of the TV as a lucky mascot and
England won 2-0. I took the attached picture at the same time making
sure I got the England captain David Beckham No.7 in shot at the same
time. The main difference is that England are wearing their more normal
White shirts rather than the Red away strip that TY have thrust upon us.
Hope you like it, and thanks for a wonderful site. David xx This is a

Food for Thought
From: Bean
eWonderland
From the email: My household has an annual income of well over
$100,000 and also an unblemished credit rating. I was turned down
also. These folks really are not looking for totally financially
sound people. They want to make money on folks who will end up
paying higher rates because they are late or unable to pay in some
instances and more fees can be assessed. They told me that I did
not need credit. Interesting. Say goodbye McBear!
Bean eWonderlands comment - Thank you to everyone for sharing your stories on this issue, I know that there are many of you who have been refused this card. I was not going to use anymore articles on the issue, but felt this one made a good point. Could it be that you are being turned down because they don't want people likely to pay off the monthly balance each month?
Tokyo International Gift
Show
The 52nd Annual Tokyo International Gift Show opens today (September
5th to 7th) and our Japanese reporter has sent us the following:
"Hi Tom, sorry, bad news I'm afraid, there was no new Japanese Ty
product announced or on display at the Ty Booth today, so I guess we'll
have to keep waiting for a Nipponia Buddy. The two variations of Dizzy
were shown, colored ears and black ears and also the Beanie Boppers were
now available to order (they're not currently available to buy in
Japan). Maybe we will see the Nipponia Buddy released at the Osaka gift
show (September 19th to 21st)? Security was heavy as usual but the booth
wasn't that crowded and the reps were very happy to discuss orders but
weren't giving anything away ;o) More Updates, as we receive them...

Collector Bites the Dust
From: Bean

The following email was received today from
a regular reader who was turned down for the new Ty credit card: Today
my wife and her mother both received letters from MBNA, the company that
is making the TY credit card. This is such a disappointment, my wife and
her mother both have excellent credit.
My wife and I only have a household income of about 45k a year but we have good credit history. We each own our own car and we own our home. We have collected Ty products for about four years now. I would like to take this time to thank Ty for giving us a hobby but we are officially quitting. I realize that it is not TY that is responsible for issuing the credit cards. It just burns me that he would hold a promotion that is obviously geared towards upper class families.
This is nice though so now the upper class can get their credit card and beanie and sell it to me for $100 or more. I am not playing this game anymore. I will probably be holding an auction for all of my beanies, buddies and attics on ebay next week. I haven't decided what to do with them for sure yet. I have over 300 I will sell in one bulk auction with no reserve if I decide to go that route. I will probably no longer be visiting your site. I do apologize for that as I believe Beanewonderland to be the best Ty related site on the net. Thank you all and good luck.

Earlier yesterday, when checking out the current/retired lists
on Ty's site, I noticed small icon pictures next to the Buddies and
Attics name, on the left hand bar. They were only there for a split
second, and poof ... they were gone! Later in the evening, Ty announced
the retirement of Pierre ... before I could even post it, another poof!
- and it was gone. Pierre IS still listed as current!!! (Whew, glad THAT
didn't happen!) It must have been a long day for someone!

Attempting to woo his new girlfriend on
their second date together, Tom Mork asked Nancy if he could be excused
for a moment as they strolled through the San Diego Zoo. Though Nancy
believed her new beau was making a discreet trip to the little boy's
room, he was actually purchasing a small zoo-animal toy memento for his
date. When Tom returned, with a small stuffed koala bear in tow, Nancy
just knew he was the man she was going to marry.
Nevertheless, a quarter of a century and an estimated $30,000 to $50,000 later, Tom wishes he'd bought flowers back then, because his wife's obsession with teddy bear collecting has become, well, unbearable. The collection ranges in price from a $5 beanie to a $500 one-of-a-kind Coppertone Suntan Lotion bear with a dog displaying his sun-kissed bare bottom. Full Story:
