BEANIES ON DATELINE NBC
Last night, Dateline NBC was a special report on conjoined twins. The show titled "Two Lives To Live" weighed the risks and challenges of both separation and non-separation of several sets of conjoined twins. After the first set of little girls were separated they showed a close-up of one of the little girls with her INKY Beanie Baby. There was a huge outpouring of gifts sent in for the little girls and among them were quite a few Beanie Babies. I recognized some of them and the ones that stood out were The End Bear and Kicks Bear. I hope you got to see this show. These children were so precious and now can live their own lives. :o)

.. BEANIES IN THE NEWS ..

Summit Series stars attract hundreds
Mississauga, Ont. — Hundreds of autograph hounds swarmed to a large tent in the parking lot of the Hershey Centre arena for signing sessions with the heroes of Canada's 1972 Summit Series hockey team Saturday afternoon.

The popularity of the Team of the Century, as selected in a Canadian Press poll two years ago, has never waned.

"Somebody once said nothing lasts forever but I'm starting to think this does," Boston Bruins president Harry Sinden, who coached Canada's team during its eight-game showdown with the Soviet Union 30 years ago, said as he stood at the back of the venue surveying the scene as he awaited his turn.

Admittance was $5 for adults and $2 for children under 10. Players were divided into groups of five or more, with autographs from each group costing $35. Proceeds were to be used to help defray the estimated $100,000 cost of flying in and housing players for the reunion, said organizers.

... Vendors had set up tables in the tent. Some sold items with no connection to hockey, such as beanie babies and stuffed animals, while others hawked hockey memorabilia. VIEW ARTICLE HERE

The secret life of Edgar Sanchez
On Sept. 11, 2001, Edgar Sanchez walked through Oak Grove's Super Wal-Mart looking for meat to stock his hot-dog stand.

There, Sanchez, like everyone else, froze and went slack jawed, watching a row of televisions as a plane struck the World Trade Center.

Unlike everyone else, Sanchez wasn't surprised.

"I went to the FBI and told them something big was going to happen," Sanchez said. "They could have done something."

People, his own wife included, thought they knew Edgar Sanchez. He's a personable man.

"He's unbelievably charming," said Shannon Sanchez, who is now seeking a divorce and full custody of their daughter.

Sanchez can work a crowd. He opened a string of As Seen On TV stores around Kansas City, most recently in Independence, always with fanfare and plenty of free Beanie Babies and George Foreman grills. VIEW ARTICLE HERE

Ty Settles Class Action Lawsuit
Over three years ago, we reported on a story about a class action lawsuit against Ty Inc. The lawsuit claimed that Ty engaged in deceptive business practices by announcing certain Beanie Babies would be 'retired', supposedly ending their production. The lawsuit went on to say that the retirement announcements were false and misleading because up to and after the retirement date, Ty would continue to flood the market with the reported retired product therefore jeopardizing the 'retired' Beanies profit potential. Two such lawsuits were filed. The first in California and a second one in Texas. It looks like Ty has decided to settle with the lawsuit out of California according to documents that Ty retailers are starting to receive. Ty admits no wrongdoing in the settlement. Beanies Go Bust
That's the title of an article that appeared recently in the Daily Herald, which ironically is published in Ty's own back yard. The story states that the days are gone when you could pick up a Beanie Baby at the card shop for $5 or $6 and hope to resell it for $25 or $30. Click Here For Article

Are Beanie Collectors the most complaining people?
Marie from About Beanies writes:
"Ok, I have never seen so many people find something to complain about! Lately of course it has been the Master Card 2 Issue and people not liking the fact that they are getting MC 2 with a Card for their one year anniversary gift, that thats not good enough! Oh give me a break lol, those people expect way to much!

Ty did yesterday answer one of the complainers and said he has now got something special in the works for the the anniversary (I am sure whatever it is it will be great, but what do I bet that most of those original complainers will still be complaining!)

Now the TyTalk Boards are filled with those same complainers telling everyone "See we were right, Ty knew he pulled a fast one on us!"

Well thats not true, just because Ty said he was going to be something that appears to be what the complainers wanted, that certainly doesn't mean the complainers were right, it also means they were just to darn annoying to listen to anymore, easier to shut someone up and let them think they have won! LOL

I just find it so hard to believe that in this day and time people can't find more worthy causes to complain about!

(Those of you who are receiving MC 1 instead of MC 2 after using your points and stuff, now that is cause to complain in my opinion, thats a bit different.)

Ok what lead to my rant this morning was I read on another news site where someone posted a letter from a reader where they complained that Ty charged them $10 for the BBOC Pin set, instead of the $3 it was accidently listed as for a few hours the first morning, and then they go on the say "When "stores" make a pricing error they should stand by it. I will dispute the charges with my credit card company!!"

This is totally ridiculous! Mistakes are to easy to make these days on the internet, in fact I am sure the fine print some where like on most sales sites says their may be Typos!!! People make typos and get things mixed up, get over it!! Stop being so greedy and trying to get something for less. How about you don't waste your Credit Card Companies time on this non-issue and find a real cause to complain about, because if you can complain like this on something so stupid, you should be able to do good for a worth while cause! LOL

Ok I am done with my rant for today! I really do feel sharing our opinions and dislikes with the world is a wonderful thing we are able to do, but I really think some people should think about what they are about to say a little more often, champion a better cause, I can think up a few for you!"

Planet Beans Comments: VERY well said Marie!! :o) I don't believe Ty would be doing this simply as a means of "giving in" to the complainers. He's a better businessman that that.

DONATION COMMENTS
Lisa, don't think that people aren't interested in the children's project you mentioned just because they haven't written in to you, volunteering with things for the children.  I know that our church and many others in our area are also involved in Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse: Operation Christmas Child.  It is possible that many other readers are already participating in this wonderful project.  After watching the video that explains the project, our church members were mostly teary-eyed.  There are so many things that we with "normal" families take for granted.  It's hard for us middle-class Americans to imagine children who have never, ever gotten a present in their lives!  It is our great priviledge as well as responsibility to share with those who haven't been blessed with the same things we have!  I encourage anyone who doesn't give to this worthwhile ministry to check into getting the video and responding as they feel led.  Our church made 150 boxes last year, which was our first year.  This year we hope to double that and we have volunteered to be a collection point for other churches in the area to drop off their shoeboxes.  We will then take all the churches' shoeboxes to a bigger collection spot.  God bless all those who take part!  Karen

Planet Beans Comments: I'd like to thank Karen for her well spoken words. I'm glad she was able to make it more clear what this donation is for. :o)

ASK Ty
Q: Dear Ty, I just love your Pluffies and Punkies collection! Are you going to make more of them? If so when?? Thanks, ~Kris~ (submitted by Kris24)
A: Great question Kris ! I'll keep this one short and simple . . . Punkies soon and Pluffies a little later.

Give me Kaya, or I'll cry
My girlfriend and I pulled into the shopping plaza parking lot - nearly deserted at 8:15 Saturday morning - and craned our necks for a good view of the gift shop.

"We're in luck," I said, relief flowing through my body. "There's nobody here."

"Nobody?" asked my daughter from the back seat, using a certain tone. (Nature of tone: anxious, disbelieving, annoyingly high-pitched.) "Are you sure? Positive?"

"We're the first ones?" said my friend's daughter.

"Yep - we're the very first ones here," I said, leaning back and looking at the clock. We were first, but we had a wait ahead; the store wasn't scheduled to open till 9 a.m.

We dug into our bag of bagels. I sipped my coffee. My friend and I assured ourselves (somewhat nervously) that we weren't acting all crazed and obsessive, like grown men and women who get into mean-spirited brawls over Beanie Babies. READ THE ARTICLE HERE

A Question for Ty ... and Ty's Answer
A post on the Ty Cyberboard asked about the MC Bear II in regards to the amount spent on their Ty MasterCard. Below is their question, along with Ty Warner's response.

MommyTheMaid writes:
Did you honestly think that by giving the MCII bear to people for spending $5,000.00 on their Ty mastercard in one year, and then giving it to people for spending only $1,500.00 on the Ty mastercard wouldn't cause a problem?? You gave the incentive to purchase $5,000.00 in a year. Why bother making the statement about spending $5,000.00 in a year if you were not going to do anything different than send the same bear that the $1,500.00 spenders get. Click here to view the Cyberboard Message

Here you go!
Ty Warner writes:
I have read your posts and understand the issue. I have been working on a special anniversary surprise. Keep an eye on the boards and "Ask Ty" for more information very soon. Click here to view Ty's response

Woman receives 'Rell's Reward'
Vaz, 18, was flanked by family and friends at the Board of Education offices at the high school as she received her "Rell's Reward."

"Rell's Rewards" is a program Rell initiated in November 2000 that recognizes young people who have volunteered their time to help others.

While at Shelton High, Vaz was an active participant in the Key Club and served as chairperson for "Beanies for Preemies," an organization that collects Beanie Babies for patients at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

Rell said she has met "some of Connecticut's most wonderful kids" through the program, including another Shelton girl, Kelly Streb, who received a "Rell's Reward" last February for donating her Beanie Baby collection to the pediatric unit at Bridgeport Hospital.

Beanies St Judes Update
From Pat: I just wanted to update you on our Beanie Drive for St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. We want to THANK YOU for posting our message regarding our collection of Beanies/Attics/Pals/Teddy Bears and other stuffed toys for the children at St Jude's. Thanks to you and so many generous Angels we have received 3,463 as of today (and I expect more to come in yet this week). We will be taking them to the hospital on Saturday, 28 September... on our "Wings Across Tennessee Ride". We will be able to fill 7-8 motorcycle trailers... which is fantastic!! I've talked with the hospital and they are looking forward to our arrival.

The hospital treats between 125-150 children every day... so, this will help them out for a while. We have received a wonderful variety that will satisfy the many different desires the children may have. We will still accept items... even after we make our ride on 28 Sept.... and we'll take them on the next ride.

If a note with the value is included with a donation, I'll send a St Jude tax receipt. Donations can be sent to:

WORN OUT
We went to Six Flags Over Georgia last night. We got free tickets from Chrysler since we own one of their vans so we took the kids. We all had fun until the rain, lightening, and thunder started at about 10:30pm. We were all still ready to go for more and the kids really wanted to go on one of the water rides. I even brought a change of clothes for everyone in the van so we'd be prepared not to drive home in soaked clothes.

I was a bit worn out from the walking and one of the rides I went on really threw me around pretty good. Since I had only been 4 weeks post-op from my surgery on my stomach I should have NOT gone on this one ride "The Great American Scream Machine". I love roller coasters and this was the oldest one at Six Flags and it looked really neat all lit up at night. I didn't even think about the bar coming down right onto my stomach like it did, but by the time it started moving it was too late. Needless to say, my tummy wasn't to happy with me after that jerky ride. Jennifer went with me and she didn't like it one bit and she normally loves roller coasters. She ended up getting a hurt back.

We loved "Batman" this coaster was really great. Brandon loved "Bug Bunny World". He went on a few rides in there before the rain hit and he was giggling and smiling like you wouldn't believe. Kept all of us in stitches watching him and how much fun he was having.

My tummy is okay today but I have a bruise on the back of one thigh and on the side of the other thigh and have this headache this morning that I wish would go away. LOL

On Friday's 'Live With Regis And Kelly,' model turned actress, Talisa Soto was a guest. Talisa, who appears in the movie "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever," is currently seven months pregnant and as the interview with her concluded, Regis and Kelly gave her a gift. Looking into the gift bag Talisa cooed, "Oh! How cute!" What was the gift she pulled out? A Ty Classic bear wearing a Live With Regis And Kelly t-shirt. The bear shown was Yesterbear Yellow, now retired. A camera close-up clearly showed the Ty heart shaped hang tag, dangling from its ear.

IN RESPONSE

Brenda writes: "I read your articles in your newsletter. The email message;that you received from Sheldon Z,caught my attention. I,too, used to have problems;with the Ty Store and BBOC,concerning the P.O. Box address issue. Up until this past spring.

I happened;to mention to my Postmaster, that TY,INC was refuseing to ship to P.O. Box address. Well;he told me,that if your legal mailing address is just a P.O. Box. NO business;that takes orders for merchandise they are selling,CAN REFUSE to ship your ordered merchandise to your legal mailing address. Even;if it is to a P.O. Box,with no listed street address.

So;after the Postmaster told me this information,I emailed TY,INC. and informed them of what my Postmaster told me. I informed them;that they did not have a legal right,to refuse shipment,of my ordered merchandise,my package to my P.O. Box. Well;TY,INC. responded (at that time) with a message, that they had updated my mailing address. And;that my orders would be shipped,to my P.O. Box with no problems.   I did receive my orders;from the Ty Store, mailed to my P.O. Box.

In the last couple of months;because of the new emergency 911 calling system, our town has had to number each home on every street. And,now;I have been able to update my mailing address,to reflect my home number and street address. But;TY,INC,still ships to my P.O. Box .... unless I have had them process a large order, for me. Then;my shipments, come directly to my street address via a UPS Delivery driver.

So;Lisa,if you will pass the legal information on to Sheldon Z. He can email TY,INC.,too, and inform them about his "legal address". I doubt;that they will continue,to refuse to ship to his P.O. Box any longer."

SMOKEY BEANIE ADVICE
From: Ms. Janie
I have received a few notes in the past couple of months from individuals who have bought or traded Beanie that smelled of cigarette smoke. I would like to remind everyone that the Beanie material will retain odors and sellers and traders need to be more careful! It you receive a Beanie that smells of smoke there are a couple of things you can do. I have heard that wrapping it in (one) sheet of white tissue paper and then wrapping it in newspaper will help to absorb the odor. I have also heard that placing a Beanie in a zip lock back along with a fabric dryer sheet should also get rid of the smoke. You also may want to consider placing the Beanie in a dry place away from the sun outdoors to air out! Ms. Janie

Planet Beans comments: I have received Beanies in the past from auctions as well as friends that smelled like smoke. I've tried the above mentioned suggestions and what I've found to work the best is to put the Beanies outside to air out and then put them in a bag with a dryer sheet. Satsuma family members indicted for eBay fraud
Three members of a Satsuma family face federal charges they ran a seven-year wire-fraud scam -- primarily through the online auction house eBay -- fleecing dozens of people to the combined tune of about $250,000.

That's a lot of Palm Pilots and Beanie Babies, which appear to have been the main commodities involved, according to court records in the case against Bill Curtis; his wife, Mattie Curtis; and his father, Jessie Curtis. View the rest of the article HERE

BBOC Clubby 5 Set
Christine writes: Hi there Just thought i'd mention something Inoticed; if you are in the US and order the Clubby5 set it costs $15, the pinset costs $10, now if you get the maximum of 2 sets of both that comes to $50, plus S&H of $6.30. If you order from the UK, they put the price of Clubby5 set as £15 (an increase of 50%), and Pinset as £10, therefore purchasing two sets of each as above, and adding $7+ for S&H and VAT on top, the whole thing costs £66.15 !! (approx $99); now that's an awful lot more! Christine

Ansonia revives Heritage Festival
ANSONIA — Downtown Ansonia came alive over the weekend with the return of its Heritage Festival.
Most of Main Street was closed to traffic during the two-day event, which ended late Saturday afternoon, in order to accommodate dozens of vendor booths, live entertainment, a carnival, an antique mall and more.

Warm, late summer breezes were on tap Saturday as a host of vendors, peddling everything from fall mums and Beanie Babies to jewelry and antiques, lined Main Street. Local eateries opened their doors and offered samplings of their cuisine to hungry festival-goers. http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=5391206&BRD=1281&PAG=461&dept_id=7577&rfi=6

America's wealthy lose billions, but still doing OK
NEW YORK - The rich are less rich. For the second straight year but only the fourth time in 20 years of rankings, the combined net worth of Forbes magazine's 400 wealthiest Americans declined this year, reflecting the economy's continuing troubles.

Their total net worth of $872 billion was down from $946 billion in 2001 and $1.2 trillion in 2000.

The biggest loser on the list released Friday was also the richest person: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. He lost $11 billion for a net worth of $43 billion. http://www.dailyherald.com/main_story.asp?intid=3751373

Hot collectibles
If you have been holding onto Barbie dolls or Beanie Babies in hopes of cashing in big, the news isn’t so good. Internet trading sites have made these and other hard-to-find items easier to get, causing their values to plummet. So what is hot right now? Authentic antique cast-iron mechanical banks, especially the Uncle Sam version that nods its head happily when a penny is put into its hand. This particular bank’s value has jumped from $500 in the 1970s to as much as $10,000 today. View the article HERE

BBOC OFFERS FOR CANADIANS
Raven shares the following:
Received in the mail today, the flyer that was sent to the Beanie Club members. (ie. the one that you can order the new clubby buddy and pins with).  As I am about to throw it out, I take a second look to find out that it is from Ty Canada and not Ty USA.  (Now I know you're thinking...so?)  Ty Canada has made the offer to us Canadians for the pin set, etc in Canadian funds shipped from Canada!!  This makes a huge difference for us - yes we still pay more shipping (if you don't already know, it costs less to send a parcel to the USA than in Canada!), but no customs charges, no bank/credit card fees for paying in US Funds!  The beanie/buddy duo goes for 24.00 cdn and the pin set 15.00 cdn (while the cases are 4.50 cdn per).  It states here that we can order via ty.com or call 1-866-TYC-BBOC M-F 7am-7pm EST & Sat 8:30am-4:30pm EST to order as well (p.s. you have to have your membership number!)....BUT we Canadians know how messed up TY gets when it comes to internet ordering for us!  Oh...just to let you know, it's Visa or MC only..GST applicable & Ontario residents 8% on top of that.  (This works out to $54.05 cdn for one pin set and one bean/budd set with shipping if you live here in Ontario)

Ty's Info. Beanie Talks About A NO REASON PARTY this weekend!!
From: Ms. Janie
HMMM do we or do we not read into this??? Good morning! Happy Friday the 13th! Some people think that Friday the 13th is unlucky, but I think it's very lucky because we're having our party tomorrow. How lucky is that? I am so ready to work today! It's a good thing that I am because we have a lot to do! I've been up for quite a while but no one else was so I really couldn't get much done. I didn't mind though, I just got caught up on my e-mail. Our friends at Ty have already been to the store and brought us everything we need so we can start baking right after breakfast. We're going to make chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and peanut butter cookies! When we are done with those, we're going to make a taco dip and a dip for potato chips. We're also going to make a caramel dip for apple slices! Now that sounds super yummy! Golly, thinking about all of the wonderful things we're going to make today is really making me hungry! I'm going to get to breakfast. I'll talk to you later. Bye! You be the judge!! Ms. Janie http://www.tytrade.com/Info_Beanie_home

COLOR ME BEANIE IN THE UK
Daphne Roberts (Editor of Bean Bag Magazine) shares the following:
"Hi folks!  We thought you may like to know that the Color Me Beanie has today started to arrive in Ty account shops in the UK.

Whilst it’s good news that people in Europe will be able to use the kit information to register with the BBOC, we are paying the same amount in pounds sterling as the USA is in dollars – if that makes sense … financially it doesn’t!

Bearsandbeans has a comparison, with plenty of pics, of the Europe and USA kits, which can be seen at the following link: www.news.bearsandbeans."

To M.C. or not M.C. II? That's a good question!!!
Marc writes:

When M.C. Beanie II was announced and the cut-off for ordering the first M.C. was 8/16 @ 5:00 P.M. Eastern I think, I waited until 8/17, just to be safe. I called up and redeemed points for TWO of the new M.C. II and was assured that was what I would get. Today, 9/11, I was very excited to open the door and see two small brown boxes with the mail, knowing they're the ones Ty sends out. When I brought them in & opened them up, I was angered & disappointed to see two more of the original (brown) M.C. Beanie!!! I called MBNA to ask about this if these were sent by mistake or if one was supposed to have been the one I redeemed points for in July and the other was my anniversary "bonus" Beanie. The operator told me that this was for the one I redeemed points for in July & it would be around 8 weeks from when I ordered the M.C. II Beanie Babies for those to arrive and about 10-12 weeks from my anniversary date (9/13) for my "bonus" for spending the $5000 in one year. I think there was a mistake made, as I only redeemed for ONE of the first M.C. in July and that one arrived last week. I was NOT told to return the brown M.C. Beanies for the others. So I still am expecting two M.C. II Beanies in around another four weeks and you can bet your beans, I’ll be on the phone if they don’t arrive!!!

I had just called MBNA previously on 9/9 to ask about the anniversary one and was told that all the info. they have is that it will be M.C. Beanie II. I said be prepared for a flood of angry calls/letters, as we all were expecting something different, more "special" than what we already could get for redeeming 1500 points and the same as new card users can get now for their initial use of the card!!! I even expect some people to cancel their cards after this mess. If I remember correctly, the brochure they sent with the card describes the anniversary/$5000 bonus one as a “specially selected Beanie Baby, one that is not available to the general public.” So either M.C. Beanie or M.C. Beanie II does fit that description so I don’t think anyone can shout “false advertising” or anything like that. I doubt too many of us would have spent as much as we did on the card if we thought we’d just get the same Beanie again. Only TYme will tell!!! Marc

SUE'S TRIBUTE BEAR

The Web Does Its Part for Sept. 11
From: Ms. Janie

Yahoo.com's home page was devoid of its usually vivid colors Wednesday, its white background replaced with gray. Amazon.com carried drawings, essays and poetry from New York City schoolchildren "I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with loving words," eighth-grader Stephanie wrote. "It may be the last time you see them." The Internet, already home to some poignant electronic archives, marked the Sept. 11 anniversary in its own way. Some Web gathering spots emphasized the medium's power for instant reaction to galvanizing events. Others stressed not expression, but reflection. Slashdot, a site frequented by techies, reran messages from its stunned readers a year ago. The online auction site eBay draped a flag over its home page and opened a temporary discussion board about the anniversary, while the White House, Lycos and other sites replaced their front pages with tributes. The Electronic Privacy Information Center posted a chronology of terrorism-inspired actions affecting civil liberties. Most sites had their regular materials accessible through a link. But Topica, which sends more than 50 million messages a day to about 4,000 corporate and community discussion lists, took down its site and suspended service for most of the day.

It's hard to believe it's already been a year since the terrible tragedies of 9/11. Sooo many lives were touched and changed forever on that horrific day. Our freedom does have a price and we must now live each day for what it is and be thankful for our families and friends that we have around us and cherish your moments with them. Don't let a day pass by you that you don't hug your kids and loved ones. MC II Bear
From:
Bean eWonderland
I heard from a friend yesterday.... she'd ordered MC II beanie after it was announced because she had enough points to do so. She got a package in the mail from TY & opened it expecting to see that new color.... but.... it was the brown MC beanie that was curled up inside the box. After an exchange of emails, she will be sending that box back to exchange one brown for one gold beanie. I had to wait about a week to order mine until the date that my points rolled over.... August 22.... perhaps all of us who ordered before the end of the month will be receiving brown instead of gold. Time will tell. Marilyn

COLOR ME BEANIE
Kim shares her comments and kids creations with Ms. Janie

WOW!!! Has Ty hit a home run with the Color me Beanie or what? My kids could not wait until our local retailer got them in, and as soon as they called to tell us they had arrived, they immediately begged me to take them so they could get theirs. This is such a great idea, the kids loved it, I loved it, and my husband loved the fact that it kept them occupied for quite a while! They had such a great time with coloring and decorating, they have already asked for at least one more! For $7.99, I think these beanies are a bargain. http://www.msjanie.com/temp/kim_and_kids_colormebeanie.html

Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) Tennessee, Chapter Q, from Clarksville, TN wants to Thank You for your support and I just wanted to update you on our collection of Beanies/Attics/ Pals/Bears and other stuffed toys for the children at St Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN....

We have received 1,201 Beanies and other stuffed toys to take to the hospital on our "Wings Across Tennessee" Ride on 28 September 2002... and they are still coming in!! It sounds like a lot of beanies, but I talked with an dministrator and they treat between 125-150 children every day... so, they won't last very long. These toys will be given to the children when they are having a particularly bad day from their treatments to help cheer them up. We have received a great variety from Beanies/Attics/Pals/Teddy Bears and other stuffed toys... even a Barbie doll!! If you'd like to read more or would like to donate to this very worthy cause... visit Richard over at Bean eWonderland

'Pin-Demonium' - Pins (Update)
From: Doodle's Page
As you are probably aware, Patti the Platypus was shown on the pin image in the BBOC newsletter recently sent in the mail. If you take a close look at the 'Pin-Demonium' page on the BBOC, you will see pins on a Beanie image as the background. (Now wouldn't THAT make a nice Beanie Baby? ... A "personal Masterpiece" ... remember the shorthand BBOC notes? :)

So apparently that does answer the question regarding the 'mystery pins' as being 'the original nine'. Included on the image are: Patti, Chocolate, Cubbie (Brownie), Flash, Legs, Pinchers (Punchers), Splash, Spot and Squealer.

OMG!!! Ty's off his rocker!!!
Marc shares the following in the BBChalkboard
I've been going through the Beanie Websites/groups as I do every night (LOL) :) and have to tell you that Ty Warner is ready to go to the asylum in one of those nice white jackets with the straps on it. LOL. He's gone absolutely off the deep end with variations!!! Here's what I've seen/read so far.

Color Me Beanie-the RIBBON colors are different...maybe SIX ribbons, one for each color of marker included in the kit.

Frankenteddy-I've read reports of 3, 6, 7, even 10 versions of this one!!! Looks like the color of the FEET is what varies on these. Photos I've seen of this one...some have "clean" faces, others have stitches on them.

America Buddy-there are FIVE versions of this!!! Each box of four is supposed to have 2 BLUE, 1 WHITE, 1 RED. And photos at Ms. Janie's & UGB (UndergroundBean) show that there are both versions of both red and white Buddies (the reverse ears for both)!!!

BBOC pin sets-According to the newly redone BBOC site, each set is to contain one mystery pin, which I'm assuming will be one of the original nine Beanies. You won't know what you get until it arrives. There's supposed to be a PIN-demonium board on the site to trade pins.

My prediction is that Ty will make enough money by the end of the year to release Billionaire #6. LOL. :P

Does Ty want to bankrupt all of us? Then no one will be left to buy his products except him!!! :P Marc

DID YOU NOTICE THE PIN-DEMONIUM?
The BBOC is offering the Pin-Demonium (The Pin Trading Center) to collectors. When clicking on Pin-Demonium in the left hand navigation bar you will read the following message:
Have you heard the news? This years BBOC Members ONLY offer includes, for the first time ever, a set of TY Collector Pins. This special first edition pin set is sure to become a colletable. One of the pins in each set is a "mystery" pin. We know you'll want to collect them all so we created a special pin-trading center: PIN-DEMONIUM. Here you can trade pins with other BBOC members from around the world.

MDA succeeds again
Congratulations to John and Christine Zagrobelny and their committee for another successful MDA Telethon. If you've never attended one of these, you don't know what you're missing.

Judy McHugh is a North Port resident who gave more than 200 Beanie Babies to North Port Head Start students, DASH families, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church and the North Port Boys & Girls Club. She collected them over the years and decided to donate them to children. What a great lady.

The revolution in I-messages
WASHINGTON
Perhaps 200 years from now social historians will look back at our time and see a revolution occurring. I do. I first glimpsed the machinations of change a few years ago, when my son Noah was 6. Angry wails erupted from the family room where he and his friend Georgia had been playing happily.

"It's mine!"

"No, it's mine."

"You bit me!"

When I looked in, both children were sobbing.

He took my Nanuk, I was playing with Nanuk," Georgia cried, grabbing the grayish-white mush-dog Beanie Baby out of Noah's hand. Noah held out his arm for me to see and cried: "Look, she bit me."

Before I could say anything, Georgia commanded: "Cool down!" On cue, the children backed away from each other to sulk in opposite corners, their bodies tense with anger and hurt. After a long minute, Georgia announced, tears still rolling down her cheek, "I messages!"

I watched in amazement as she explained: "I don't like when you take my toy, it makes me feel angry."

"I don't like it when you bite me," Noah responded. "It hurts when you bite."

They'd obviously done this before, I realized, out of earshot of parents. Each child began to relax. "Are we ready to be friends again?" Noah asked.

Georgia shook her head and came over to sit on my lap. After a few minutes, she rose.

"Let's have a Beanie Baby fight!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah, let's," said Noah with a giant smile.

Voilà. They began throwing Beanie Babies at one another in a fun-filled, healing free-for-all. I was dumbfounded. When I was growing up, no kids resolved conflict like this. No grownups either. I realized that Noah and Georgia were among those humans who have learned the skill of resolving conflict peacefully. As it turns out, both kids had picked it up at school. At 6, they were more skilled at it than most adults.

BBOC NEWS - or lack of!!
From: Ms. Janie
That poor purple bears legs must be tired from going up and down those stairs. What do you bet Ty makes us wait until Sept 16th for this page to be updated? The newsletter states that it can not be ordered until then. NOW - maybe after reading this they may just want to prove me wrong and get it over with. Come on Ty, we have waited a long time. I'm tired of playing Hollywood squares, or should I say Hollywood stairs! Ms. Janie http://www.tytrade.com/TyStore

Beaniesonline
From: Bean eWonderland
The following email was received today: Beaniesonline.Com $440 Please note that after years, the registration on the domain name Beaniesonline.Com was not renewed and this domain had become available to register. Consequently, we have been approached to market this domain name that has been tracked and registered by a client.now available from us for IMMEDIATE transfer. With so many companies that could benefit from this domain, along with what many would consider to be a "wholesale price", we hope to secure a quick transfer.

Bean eWonderlands comment - If anyone else recieves this email be cautious, although we believe this to be genuine, securing and trying to trade under such a domain name would surely have Ty Inc. legal team on your case within day.

<<I also received this email yesterday. I agree totally with Richard's comment: "securing and trying to trade under such a domain name would surely have Ty Inc. legal team on your case within day">>

Red, White, & Blue America Buddies
Stephen shares: A lady I've traded with always buys her Beanies from this store on 5th Avenue in Pittsburgh. She was in this store this week when the Ty rep was in and the rep had a bag of sample Beanies and Buddies. One of the Buddies was the Red version of America.

NEWS FROM THE BIRMINGHAM AUTUMN FAIR
Karin attended the NEC in the UK yesterday and she shared her experience with
CHUBBLEY CORNERS:
Chubbley collectors are going to have a great time with the new releases!!! they are absolutely fab.......I LOVE Moonbeam Chunky, he will be released in october along with regular size Russell, the cub size is available for ordering now, these 2 are the second bears in the four seasons set. Mistral is lovely with his clouds and suns, and Honey is a real sweetie, no cubs for these as yet Spells Is Ivy green, not my favourite colour I guess but along with his black cat on his foot and his little cub Hocus pocus with his spell book on his foot a must have anyway! Bubbley cub was available to order, minus the R on his foot of course! The biggest surprise of all was to find that there will be a draw after the show closes for a regular size Bubbley, one lucky retailer will win him, he will have a special tag signed by both Charles and Darren and Charles said the tag will be laminated? Finally to finish my time there I got a kiss on the cheek from Charles heh heh Nothing worth mentioning on the TY stand apart from the fact the America Buddy was not on the Order form neither was Colourmebear! hugs karin <<to view a picture of the Bubbley Cub with the 'R' on his foot click HERE>>

If you are a Chubbley collector or just plain curious about the cute critters.. you should pay a visit to Chubbley Corners. Lots of fun and friendly people there. ;o) I'm easy to find over there.. my ID is PlanetBeans. http://www.chubbleycorners.com/

A Model Business
Lee's has been selling toys and hobby supplies for 50 years
By Toys R Us or Wal-Mart standards, business was slow at Lee's Toy and Hobby Store one recent Wednesday. But for owner Peter Marcus the crowd was just right.

Marcus, 45, said it's the diversity of his offerings — from jigsaw puzzles to model rockets — that has kept his family's store afloat for 50 years, through the advent of the strip mall and the big-box discounter. A key to his success has been shifting his inventory as the hyper-trendy hobby industry changes. Marcus tracks when the Barbie set is hot for Beanie Babies and when model railroaders pick up metal detecting.
