Planet Beans lost one of their most loyal and faithful friends this past April unexpectedly. Mabel Scott was a warm, loving lady who made many people smile during her time on earth. I came up with the idea to do something special in Mabel’s name since she loved children so much. She was always doing things to make children she knew and some that she didn't know, happy. I thought it would be nice to give a child a little something to smile about when they have to visit the hospital. After sharing the idea with my friends in the Planet Beans Yahoo! Beanie Club http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/planetbeans, I got such a wonderful response from those that loved and cared a great deal for Mrs. Mabel Scott, that I decided to contact the hospital in my area and set up a time for the donation to take place.

These were the angels who donated beanies, buddies, and money to make this possible:

Robin, (former webmaster of Planet Beans) and I arrived at the hospital with our huge box of beanies, buddies, puffkins, and barbies to give to the children at the hospital.
As it turns out, there was only one child in the hospital at the time, (a 14 year old boy) and he was worried that his friends might see his picture in the paper holding a beanie. So, we presented the box of goodies to some of the nurses.
Look at all the goodies! We instructed the staff at the hospital that these toys were to be given to any child coming to the hospital, whether it was just for a procedure, or if they were going to have to stay overnight.
The staff told us that they would be taking some of the toys down to the emergency room to give to children who came in, some were going to the pediatric floor, and others would be on the labor/delivery floor for the new babies.
